in the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Group of WHU.
Starting: March 1, 2025 or later
Locations: WHU Campus Vallendar or Campus Düsseldorf
Previous degree: Ph.D. or an equivalent academic qualification
WHU has around 60 faculty members in the fields of management, accounting and finance, economics, entrepreneurship and innovation, marketing and sales, and supply chain management. Research at WHU adheres to three research principles: quality, internationality, as well as practical and academic relevance. WHU faculty consistently publish their research in the most prestigious journals.
The position is based in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group and will be associated with the newly established Center of Excellence for Entrepreneurial Families.
Job Description
Performing research in the field of family businesses and business families and publishing in leading research journals
Conducting teaching across the various WHU degree programs in English
Developing and maintaining corporate connections with the center’s sponsor and contributing to research dissemination (e.g., participating in respective dissemination events, contributing content to newsletters and whitepapers)
Mentoring final theses and doctoral students
Contributing to academic conferences
Performing services to the academic community
Job Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent academic qualification in management or a closely related discipline with a focus on research on business families and/or family businesses
Outstanding research record on family businesses or business families as evidenced by publications in leading academic journals, presentations at excellent conferences, or a promising research pipeline
Teaching experience, especially in English
Outstanding English communication skills
International experience is advantageous
What we offer
WHU offers a competitive salary as well as an attractive package consisting of a research budget and a mentoring program for Assistant Professors. The appointment is for six years. WHU offers the opportunity for tenure-track if the WHU requirements for a tenure-track are met (e.g., excellence in research).
