As a Staff Software Engineer – Web, you will play a pivotal role in setting the technical direction across Wire\’s web and desktop applications. You will collaborate cross-functionally, influence multiple teams, and drive architectural decisions that shape the future of secure real-time communication. Your impact will extend beyond writing code — you will elevate engineering standards, mentor others, and lead initiatives that improve scalability, performance, and developer experience across the stack.
As a Staff Software Engineer – Web, you will play a pivotal role in setting the technical direction across Wire\’s web and desktop applications. You will collaborate cross-functionally, influence multiple teams, and drive architectural decisions that shape the future of secure real-time communication. Technical Leadership

Own and evolve the architecture of our web and Electron desktop apps, ensuring performance (rendering, memory), scalability (modularity, extensibility), and maintainability (testability, code clarity).

Lead key technical initiatives, such as modernizing legacy code, improving DX, and driving secure-by-default development practices (CSP, XSS, Electron hardening, E2EE).

Guide technical standards and decision-making through cross-team RFCs and close collaboration with backend and infra on APIs, observability, and deployment.
People & Culture

Mentor engineers across teams and support knowledge sharing through reviews, pairing, and documentation.
