Overview
As Engineering Manager at the World Economic Forum, you lead the outcomes and people of one or more cross-functional product teams building world-leading digital collaboration platforms and data tools. You balance hands-on coding with people leadership to deliver high-quality digital solutions that enable global public-private collaboration. You shape roadmaps with Product Leads, foster a culture of learning, and ensure delivery and business impact at scale. This role spans architecture, delivery, and platform-wide standards in a mission-driven environment.
Verantwortungsbereiche
- Co-own product roadmaps and team outcomes with the Product Lead, ensuring delivery, quality and business impact
- Lead engineering hiring, conduct 1:1s and performance reviews, and plan headcount for the team
- Develop people and culture by coaching, resolving cross-team conflicts, and fostering continuous learning
- Stay technically credible, review designs, and contribute hands-on coding where it adds value
- Drive technical analysis of projects/features, ensuring feasible, standards-aligned solutions
- Collaborate with Practice Leads to surface platform needs, debt, risks, or deviations from standard paths
- Ensure adoption of agent-assisted development workflows and maintain cross-product engineering alignment
- Coordinate with other Engineering Managers for cross-team alignment
Zentrale Anforderungen
- University-level degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- 7+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years in engineering leadership with shipping digital products
- Proven people-leadership skills: hiring, coaching, performance management, conflict resolution
- Strong command of at least one major API/web language/framework (Node.js, Python, Ruby on Rails, Go) with breadth across domains
- Ability to shape end-to-end architectures across product experiences, APIs, data, integrations, quality, security, and operations
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, service-oriented architectures, relational/document/vector databases; frontend, mobile, Salesforce, automated testing, CI/CD and release readiness a plus
- Experience with agent-assisted AI development workflows and impact on productivity/quality
- Experience in Agile environments with Jira and close partnership with product management
- Excellent documentation and communication; fluent English written and spoken
