This position offers the opportunity to help translate breakthrough neurotechnology innovations into real-world products. It also provides strong professional growth potential, including the possibility of progressing into a Technical Lead role within a future spin-off or startup emerging from the Wyss Center’s innovations.

About the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering, Geneva, Switzerland

The Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering is an independent, not-for-profit neuro venture builder with strong translational R&D roots, committed to transforming the treatment of neurological and mental health disorders. Based at Campus Biotech in Geneva, the Center drives innovation at the intersection of artificial intelligence, bioengineering, and neuroengineering to restore neural functions and deliver precision therapies.

Founded in 2014 with the support of Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist Hansjörg Wyss, the Wyss Center pioneers a unique model that blends translational R&D with patient-centric therapies, enabling both market and clinical impact. By bridging the gap between scientific discovery and real-world application, the Center de-risks emerging neurotechnologies and accelerates their path to clinical and commercial viability. Through close collaboration with ventures, clinical and academic institutions, industry partners, and access to investor networks, the Wyss Center fosters the development of impactful solutions that improve lives.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated VR/XR software Engineer with a product-focused and innovative mindset, who will take ownership of features from concept to implementation, integration, and delivery.

In this role, the candidate will develop and enhance immersive applications for digital therapeutics, patient engagement, behavioral assessment, and neurotechnology research. The candidate will work closely with neuroscientists, clinicians, software engineers, and designers to create engaging, reliable, and clinically meaningful experiences.

Our current solutions leverage immersive technologies and biofeedback-driven interventions to support neurological and mental health applications. As the platform evolves, the candidate will contribute to its expansion toward mixed reality and next-generation spatial computing environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance Unity-based VR/XR applications while maintaining integration with core algorithms and backend systems.
  • Take ownership of features end-to-end, from prototyping and implementation to backend integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Implement new therapeutic, assessment, and training modules within immersive environments.
  • Integrate physiological biofeedback data into applications for research and therapeutic use.
  • Collaborate with engineers, neuroscientists, and clinicians to ensure accurate data capture, synchronization, and compliance with QMS standards.
  • Create or integrate immersive assets, environments, and gamification elements that improve engagement and usability.
  • Support the evolution from VR to XR and mixed-reality platforms by developing scalable, modular, and extensible software architectures.
  • Optimize application performance and stability for standalone VR headsets and emerging spatial computing platforms.
  • Maintain high standards for software quality, testing, technical documentation, and version control.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development workflows, tools, and technical architecture.
  • Evaluate emerging XR technologies, development practices, and hardware platforms.

Profile required

  • Minimum three to five years of experience developing Unity-based VR, AR, or XR applications.
  • Strong proficiency in C# and sound knowledge of software engineering principles.
  • Experience integrating applications with backend systems and APIs.
  • Proven ability to optimize and deploy Unity applications for standalone VR headsets.
  • Experience using Git and working collaboratively on software development, including automated testing and deployment processes.
  • Familiarity with human-computer interaction, immersive experience design, and gamification principles.
  • Ability to evaluate and work with emerging XR and mixed-reality technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership while contributing effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced development environment.
  • Good time management and prioritization
  • Strong written and spoken English, French is a plus.
