Head of Data Science

Location:Braunschweig

One of the largestclothing retailers in Europe is looking for aHead of Data Science where you will lead a team of 12. They have over1,000 stores across Europe & Asia, grossed+€4 billion last year, and are looking to continue their success with you.

The position:

• Lead the implementation of impactful data science projects e.g. demand prediction, ML development, assortment intelligence, use case development.
• Ensure suitable architecture from data pipelines to model deployment.
• Manage and mentor a team of 12 data scientists.
• Collaborate with other departments to translate their requirements into technical solutions.
• Present project outcomes effectively to senior management.
• Oversee recruiting , personnel planning, and foster a performance-driven, value-creation culture within the team.
• Enhance team efficiency through mentoring and professional development .

Your experience:

• Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in data science.
• 2+ years in a leadership or management position.
• Ideally experience in retail , fashion, consumer goods, or a similar industry.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, used to working with upper management and C-Level.
• Practical experience with (or similar):
  • Python, Git, Linux command line, and ideally Spark and Kubernetes.
  • Open-source machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch).
  • Statistical packages (e.g., Jupyter, Pandas).
  • Big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Business fluent in German and English .
