Xneural develops next-generation airspace surveillance systems thatprotect civil and critical infrastructure, based on distributed radar sensorsand cloud-based AI perception. Our mission is to make the lower airspacevisible through Drone Detection as a Service deployed on existingtelecommunications infrastructure.
We are building a highly scalable radar perception platform capable ofdetecting, tracking, and classifying airborne objects in complexreal-world environments.
Role Overview
You will lead verification of our radar sensor nodes, cloud backend, and operator web frontend. The backend ingests and distributes sensor data. You will define release acceptance criteria, build automated tests, and reproduce failures found during testing and operation. You will work with the radar firmware and embedded Linux teams on hardware-in-the-loop andfield testing, with the backend team on integration, load, and failure-injection testing, and with the frontend team on end-to-end tests of operator workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the verification strategy for sensor firmware, embedded Linux, cloud backend, and webfrontend, and the acceptance criteria each release has to meet
- Build and maintain hardware-in-the-loop test benches for the sensor nodes, including radar targetsimulation and replay of recorded measurements
- Plan and run lab and field tests of detection, tracking, and classification against groundtruth, and turn the recordings into regression datasets
- Build integration, load, and soak tests for the backend, and verify its behaviour under nodeloss, network partitions, and backpressure
- Build end-to-end and visual regression tests for the operator frontend
- Run firmware, backend, and frontend tests automatically in CI on every merge
- Define defect tracking, triage, and release qualification procedures, and maintain test resultsand reports for customers and certification
- Develop verification procedures with the engineering team and mentor engineers in their use
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on verification, test engineering, or QA experience for products combininghardware and software (a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, ComputerScience, Physics, or a related field is welcome, though equivalent practical experience countsjust as much)
- Hands-on experience building test automation and test infrastructure
- Strong Python skills, plus working knowledge of other languages such as C, C++, or Rust
- Experience verifying embedded devices on real hardware, including test benches, instrumentcontrol, and analysis of measurement data
- Experience with integration testing, load testing, and fault injection for distributed backendsystems
- Experience with end-to-end testing of web applications using Playwright, Cypress, or similar
- Experience with Git and CI/CD, and with keeping test suites fast and reliable
- Ability to write clear, reproducible defect reports and verification documentation
Nice to Have
- Experience verifying radar, RF, or other sensor systems, including signal processing chains
- Experience with target simulation, HIL frameworks, or record-and-replay test rigs
- Experience testing ML-based perception systems and evaluating them against ground truth
- Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks
- Experience with observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
- Familiarity with safety, security, or airspace-related standards and their testing anddocumentation requirements
- Experience with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signalgenerators
- Contributions to open-source test tooling
- German language skills are beneficial but not required
What We Offer
- Ownership of verification across radar, embedded, cloud, and frontend
- Opportunity to set up the team's verification processes and test infrastructure
- Direct collaboration with experienced founders and industry experts
- Short decision paths and high individual ownership
- Flexible hybrid working model with time in our Dresden office and lab
- Links to relevant projects, publications, or GitHub profile (optional)
