As part of our Finance Team , you will have a central role in building out our in-house Accounting team to support a scaling company and you will play a key role in improving the setup of Workday Financials after go-live in Q1 2024. You will be the main point of contact to our external accountants, banks, tax advisors, auditors, the authorities and other financial stakeholders. You will get freedom to continuously improve and extend our financial tools and processes.
What You Will Do
- Work directly with the Head of Finance to bring the finance organization to the next level and make it ready to scale.
- Have full ownership of finance operations, accounting and tax topics of our two legal entities in Germany and Spain.
- Guide the transition from external to in-house accounting, ensure a smooth transition, lead a Junior Accountant and build out a strong team as Klang grows.
- Build best-in-class accounting workflows and processes around the Workday ERP .
- Produce compliant month-end and annual closings, manage our annual audit process and ensure a timely closing.
- Manage our cash balance, maintain relationships with our domestic and international banking partners.
- Collaborate with our Senior Business Systems Manager and the Engineering Team and provide accounting and tax guidance while building out the Billing, Payment processing and VAT backbone of our game SEED.
- Provide guidance on VAT and global sales tax topics and work together with external advisors to ensure compliance in all jurisdictions.
- Keep up to date with accounting principles and regulatory developments to optimize internal processes and provide accounting guidance to key stakeholders.
Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:
- At least 5 years experience in an Accounting role at a tech startup or Big-4 Audit firm.
- Experience managing in-house accounting and running a multi-entity consolidation process.
- Very good knowledge of HGB; IFRS is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
- Deep understanding of best practices for digital accounting workflows.
- Experience with cloud ERPs; knowledge of Workday Financials is a plus.
- Bachelor\’s degree in Accounting or Taxation; candidates without a degree but with necessary experience are considered.
- Good general IT literacy (Google Suite – especially Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Flexible, open personality, and a strong team player.
- Ability to enforce deadlines and policies with a friendly touch.
- Resourceful, takes initiative, and finds solutions to problems.
- Detail oriented and takes pride in work product.
