Team Lead Backend (f/m/d)

Your mission We’re looking for a Team Lead Backend (f/m/d) to join us as soon as possible – at our headquarters in Munich , or in Berlin or Halle (Saale) in a hybrid setup . As our Team Lead Backend, you’ll take full responsibility for the technical leadership and continuous development of our platform. Your mission: to drive innovation, lead and grow your team, and build a robust, scalable software architecture that’s ready for the future. What you\’ll do Leadership: Lead a cross-functional backend team, coach your team members with a peer-to-peer mindset, and support their ongoing development – both technically and methodologically. Tech Ownership: Own and scale our in-house developed platform – with a strong focus on performance, security, maintainability, and technical excellence. Strategic Impact: Work closely with Product and Engineering leadership, assess technical concepts, contribute your own architectural decisions, and ensure a long-term, sustainable roadmap execution. Code Excellence: Stay hands-on with modern technologies such as PHP, Symfony, and MySQL . You write clean, well-documented, and tested code. Collaboration: Foster an open and constructive team culture through code reviews, pair programming, mentoring, tech talks, and cross-functional collaboration. Your skillset Technical Excellence: Degree in Computer Science or a similar field and strong experience building complex web applications using PHP, Symfony, and MySQL . Proven Leadership: You’ve successfully led a team of developers (both technically and disciplinarily) and know how to unlock potential and create an environment where team excellence thrives. Architectural Mindset: You design scalable, high-performing systems and make sound decisions that ensure the long-term health of the codebase. Tool Proficiency: You’re confident working in modern dev environments: Git, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Jira , and more. You’re open to evaluating and adopting new tools and technologies when they add value. Team Player & Communicator: You thrive in interdisciplinary Scrum teams, drive technical excellence through collaboration, and communicate clearly in English (German is a plus). You act as a trusted partner for key stakeholders across the business.
