Youth of European Nationalities (YEN) is looking for an Intern with a focus on website development and interactive map creation for the YEN office in Berlin.

The Youth of European Nationalities (YEN) is the largest network of youth organisations of autochthonous, national, and linguistic minorities in Europe. Under the slogan "Minority Rights are Human Rights," YEN represents the interests of young members of national, ethnic, and linguistic minorities, currently 42 member organisations from 18 countries.

Internship duration: 3 months

Start: as soon as possible, ideally before September 1

Job Location: Berlin-Mitte, Germany or online/hybrid

Tasks

Description

  • Supporting the ongoing development and technical maintenance of YEN's website;
  • Supporting the creation of an interactive map of YEN's network, visualising our 42 member organisations across 18 countries and regular updates
  • Structuring member organisation data to feed into the map and website
  • Testing and improving the usability and accessibility of the website
  • Working closely with the Secretary General and the Board on technical priorities and content needs.

Requirements

Preferred qualifications of the applicant

  • Good knowledge of English; German or additional languages are an advantage
  • Experience with website development (e.g. WordPress or similar CMS) and an interest in or experience with interactive mapping tools (e.g. Leaflet, Mapbox, Google Maps API, or similar)
  • Interest in Graphic Design and experience with tools like Canva to co-design the map
  • Comfortable working with structured data (spreadsheets, simple databases) to populate a map or website
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently on a defined technical project
  • Interest in youth work, civil society, or minority rights is an advantage
  • Fluent in English (required for day-to-day communication tasks).
