Engineering Manager / Hands-on Team Lead – TypeScript, React & Node.js | Munich Hybrid
I’m currently supporting a fast-growing travel-tech company in their search for a hands-on Engineering Manager / Team Lead to join a highly product-focused Guest Experience team in Munich.
This is not a pure people-management role.
The team is looking for someone who enjoys leading engineers, shaping technical direction and still staying close to the code. You’ll work on a core product area with real user impact: search and listing pages used by millions of users.
The focus is on scalable, high-traffic systems, better discovery and creating a smoother user experience from search to booking.
What they’re looking for:
✅ Strong experience as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead or hands-on Tech Lead
✅ Strong hands-on background in TypeScript, React and Node.js
✅ Comfortable staying technically involved and contributing around 40% of the time
✅ Experience with scalable web applications, high-traffic products and modern frontend/backend architectures
✅ Strong understanding of cloud environments, Kubernetes, CI/CD and modern engineering practices
✅ Product mindset, ownership and close collaboration with Product, Design and Stakeholders
✅ Experience leading, mentoring and developing engineering teams
✅ English required, German is a plus

Munich-based hybrid model — around 50% office presence
