Senior Expert Product Manager - Central Product Safety, Sustainability and Compliance (all genders)

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As a Principal Product Manager (all genders) in Zalando\’s Central Product Safety & Compliance team, you will be key in building solutions that make understanding and adhering to regulatory compliance clear and easy for our internal teams, partners, and customers. Your work will directly contribute to building trust by ensuring transparent access to information regarding product safety, sustainability, and quality assurance as we develop our tech landscape.

As regulatory requirements within product safety and sustainability demand more data collection, storage, and visibility for our customers, this role is central to enabling solutions that balance obligations with partner friendliness.

WHAT WE\’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

1. Collaborate with Principal Product Managers and stakeholders across Zalando\’s Product and Engineering teams to lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, partnering with the Product Regulatory team from discovery to launch.
2. Lead the product strategy and delivery of scalable compliance solutions in product safety, sustainability, and quality domains throughout the product development process.
3. Build and deliver data-driven compliance products that make regulatory data actionable, transparent, and customer-facing.
4. Translate complex regulatory requirements into usable tools and processes, understanding the engineering landscape for feasible implementation.
5. Communicate legal requirements clearly, guiding teams to interpret and meet them on time.
6. Coordinate with legal, sustainability, partner, and engineering teams to plan and allocate resources for compliance.
7. Develop practical compliance solutions by translating legal interpretations with the help of compliance and sustainability experts.

• You have 5+ years of experience as a product manager, preferably in compliance, sustainability, or regulation-heavy domains.
• You are impact-driven and structured in solving complex problems at scale.
• You are confident working with data products and understanding the full data lifecycle.

• You are a strong communicator, aligning legal, tech, and business teams.
• You thrive in fast-paced environments, driving topics across multiple teams.
• You bring curiosity and challenge the status quo with innovative thinking.
• You can navigate regulatory ambiguity and turn it into business impact.
