As our Tech Lead – Data Science (f/m/d) , you will shape and scale the way data science, machine learning, and AI are used at ZEAL. You’ll define best practices, ensure methodological consistency across teams, and lead the delivery of scalable data science products that generate meaningful business value. You’ll act as a technical and strategic leader—guiding innovation, mentoring peers, and ensuring that models move from prototype to production successfully and responsibly.

Responsibilities

1. Define and evolve ML/AI standards and best practices, focusing on model quality, monitoring, and drift management.
2. Oversee the entire data science product lifecycle—from ideation and experimentation to deployment and adoption.
3. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and robustness in data science outputs across all teams and domains.
4. Collaborate with Team Leads, Program Managers, and the Data Leadership Council to shape ML/AI strategy.
5. Drive innovation in Advanced Analytics (including AI) by evaluating emerging technologies and guiding model development.
6. Design and implement a scalable A/B testing framework, ensuring statistical rigor and automation.
7. Partner with stakeholders to translate analytics needs into production solutions.
8. Mentor and develop data scientists via our Community of Practice and Data Science Guild.
9. Promote the use of data science tools and practices organization-wide.
10. Make architecture and technology decisions aligned with other Tech Leads.
11. Monitor post-deployment model performance and establish feedback loops for improvement.
12. Report on gaps in model quality, standards, or tooling issues.
13. Manage vendor relationships and ensure cost-effective tooling.

Minimum Qualifications

1. 5+ years of experience in data science, including deploying ML/AI models.
2. Experience leading end-to-end data science projects.
3. Strong knowledge of statistical testing and experiment design.
4. Experience mentoring data science teams.
5. Proficiency with tools like Jupyter, Python, MLFlow, Git, and cloud ML services.
6. Ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams.
7. Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset.
8. Experience managing costs and operational quality of ML infrastructure.
9. Passion for applied ML/AI with a focus on business impact.
10. Experience working in domain-aligned or matrix teams.
