Take the established Winterthur Institute of Health Economics (WIG) to the next level. As part of a planned succession, we are seeking a new Head of Institute.

Your role

• Leading further development of the institute with over 30 highly motivated faculty and staff
• Managing the institute together with the heads of the four research centres: Centres for Health Economic Research, HTA and Health Economic Evaluation, Health Care Management, Health Services Research; and the Centre for Education & Services
• Together with senior team members responsible for generating third party funding through research and executive education (external funding ratio approximately 80 percent)
• Contributing to teaching and research in one of the topical areas of the institute as a full professor

Your profile

• Health economist with a PhD in Economics, Health Economics, or a closely related Social/Health Science discipline with a strong publication history in leading peer‑reviewed journals
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive strategic development and identify new research opportunities (thinking out of the box)
• Strong, proven leadership capabilities with exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong and proven track record in acquiring substantial third‑party funding and competitive research grants
• Experience in developing and positioning executive education programs
• Established, active, and influential professional network across national and international healthcare and academic sectors
• Deep, nuanced understanding of the Swiss healthcare system, its regulatory framework, and current policy challenges
• Extensive experience directing and performing policy‑relevant, applied health economic research
• Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor across diverse audiences and academic levels (fluent in German and English)
