Job Description
This is a standard controls engineer position. The individual will be the lead for the site, with 60% of work focused on special projects for the facility and 40% on troubleshooting, fire-fighting issues, and day-to-day repair work. There is an outsourced group that handles some of the daily tasks, and the aim is to reduce reliance on them. The goal for this position is to build a team underneath this person in the future.
The company is working to standardize the use of Allen Bradley controls systems across the plant. Currently, they utilize Siemens and Allen Bradley, and they aim to transition all legacy systems to Allen Bradley where possible. Additionally, they are progressing towards Industry 4.0, where all systems will communicate with each other, enabling better data collection for improved business decisions and minimizing machine downtime through effective code and system development.
This facility spans 750,000 sq. ft. and produces haircare products such as shampoos, gels, and conditioners. The facility also operates two turbines that generate 25-30% of its energy usage. There is a special project budgeted for next year to explore ways to capture more energy production and increase the turbines‘ capacity.

Must-Haves
- Experience: 5+ years as a controls engineer; 4+ years if the candidate is exceptionally skilled and can effectively interact with higher-level management and personnel from other plants.
- Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens control systems; must be able to troubleshoot and program from scratch. Experience implementing new control systems is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including power distribution, motor control, and instrumentation.
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems and designing HMIs.
- Industry agnostic; however, experience in chemical and consumer products is highly valued.
