As the National Underwriter for Liability, you will lead our Liability underwriting proposition in accordance with our business objectives and performance targets for this strategically important product line. Your role will involve using your strong technical knowledge and expertise to ensure we remain consistent with our global and local underwriting strategy.
You will provide continuous coaching to our liability underwriters on underwriting best practices and mentor them to develop strong technical capabilities. Additionally, you will monitor underwriting discipline and strategic execution, respond swiftly to negative portfolio changes or emerging market trends, and contribute to marketing and business development activities. Developing, promoting, and maintaining strategic partnerships both internally and externally will also be key aspects of your role.
In this capacity, you will support our market-facing liability underwriters, as well as crew and regional squad leaders, to proactively manage existing and seek new account opportunities, while enhancing broker and client networks. Moreover, you will monitor the team\’s pipeline and production metrics and support the development and maintenance of strategic broker relationships to achieve profitable growth, market share, product mix, new business, and account retention.
Important to your success – let\’s grow together
- Extensive experience as an underwriting leader with a comprehensive level of understanding of Liability insurance portfolios, including managing a P&L, and implementing underwriting strategy.
- Ability to leverage knowledge and expertise in products and industry to underwrite and analyse new and renewal liability business within delegated authority levels.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial underwriting, relevant legislation, and regulations governing General Insurance.
- Strategic thinker with proven experience in translating strategy into actionable plans.
- Effective in driving results within tight timeframes.
- Proficient in cultivating and leveraging strong relationships both internally and externally.
- Expertise in developing talent at all levels, with a strong grasp of capability and career development frameworks.
- Exceptional communicator with outstanding negotiation skills.
- Tier 1 Accreditation to support Zurich’s authorizations as listed in the AFSL and outlined in ASIC PS164.104C.
