The Department of Psychology at the University of Lübeck is looking to hire a

Research Scientist (m/f/d)

The position is available for 3 years (0.75 full time equivalent: 29h/week), starting February 1th 2024. The possibility of obtaining a doctorate degree is given.

The position is situated in the established research group "Auditory Cognition" (Prof. Jonas Obleser) under the supervision of Dr. phil. Sarah Tune. The position is part of a research project funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG). The project aims to better understand how perceptual inference changes with age by studying the behavioural and brain dynamics of human speech perception. The project will feature a combination of in-depth behavioural measurements, functional neuroimaging (fMRI) and computational modelling. The position does not come with any teaching obligations.

Tasks:

  • Development, implementation, and analysis of scientific studies addressing the main objectives of the funded research project
  • Preparation of publications in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations at (inter-)national conferences

Requirements:

  • Completed university degree (diploma or master’s degree) in cognitive science, neuroscience, psycholinguistics, psychology, or engineering
  • An interest in functional neuroimaging and research questions related to age-related changes in perception is expected
  • Prior experimental experience in at least one functional neuroimaging modality (e.g., EEG or fMRI) and/or experience in computational modelling will be considered an advantage
  • Ability and a proactive approach to working and learning independently
  • Strong command of English
