Project Network & Telecom (N&T) Design Leader (f/m/d) in Hamburg

Your future role

Mass transit demand is growing rapidly, especially in cities like Hamburg. Our Digital & Integrated Systems (D&IS) team leads the way in digitalization and CBTC technology. As Project Network & Telecommunications Design Leader, you’ll drive the design and support deployment activities including installation, testing, and commissioning. Reporting to the Project Director, you’ll work closely with a skilled and motivated team to deliver high-quality solutions.

We'll look for you to:

  • Ensure QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) targets for the N&T sub-system design and manage trade-offs across work packages.
  • Develop design specifications (Preliminary & Detailed) and Bill of Quantities (BoQ) in line with engineering standards and best practices.
  • Oversee system deliveries, documentation, and performance, support functional validation and configuration management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate external interfaces and maintain follow-up on technical gaps to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with installation and commissioning teams, providing technical support, investigations, and lessons learned.
  • Apply quality processes, methods, and guidelines for all N&T design activities; handle customer queries.
  • Provide inputs for planning updates and work closely with other sub-system leaders to ensure overall project performance.

All about you:

  • Degree in Science (e.g. Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, IT, Physics, Mathematics)
  • Proven experience in radio deployments within industrial environments and managing telecom/IT design projects
  • Strong technical coordination skills with experience in leading design activities and cross-functional teams
  • In-depth knowledge of Data Communication techniques (wired and wireless), plus familiarity with application engineering and systems architecture
  • High sense of quality for all documentation produced, which is aligned with customer’s expectations and Alstom’s quality mindset and quality processes
  • Ability to manage sub-system configuration and installation studies throughout the project lifecycle
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, resilience, and a rigorous, process-oriented approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

English and German at a fluent level are mandatory for this role.
