Senior Accountant (m/f/d)

to join our team as soon as possible.

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the company’s financial operations. As a trusted finance partner, they review and oversee the recording of business transactions, analyze financial information, and prepare meaningful reports that support informed decision-making. They take ownership of account reconciliations, tax-related documentation, audit preparation, and SOX compliance activities.

Working closely with the Head of Accounting, the Senior Accountant provides guidance and support to the accounting team, helps drive process improvements, and serves as a reliable point of contact for audits and complex financial projects. Through their attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and commitment to compliance, they contribute to efficient business processes and help ensure the financial health and stability of the organization.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Scope covers entities of the Aurora Europe group, including but not limited to Germany, Poland, the UK, and any other market as designated by Head of Accounting
  • Manage the review, enhancement, and creation of department policy and procedure documentation require for Sarbanes-Oxley auditing and compliance.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly accruals, payroll journal, general journal and bank reconciliations.
  • Assistance in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Perform SOX testing and receive final approval for system reports required for management, financial reporting and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Preparation of data for internal and external reporting
  • Acting as a point of contact for clients, business partners, and employees
  • Perform assigned account reconciliations of asset and liability accounts associated with among other things, accounts receivable, variance analysis, and month-end close responsibilities.
  • Processing and executing payroll accounting and monitoring all payroll processes with Support from external Tax advisor and/or other external advisors as needed
  • Additional tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and financial principles, specifically in the German Commercial Code (HGB) and IFRS and local accounting or the Polish Accounting Act is a plus.
  • Experience in daily use of accounting software (e.g., Datev, Sage, SAP)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (at the very least, pivot tables)
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • German and Polish skills is a must, and any other European language is a plus.
  • Careful and structured way of working
  • Excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Independent and solution-oriented working style
  • Ability to work well in a team.

Education & Experience:

  • Completed accounting training
  • At least 3 to 5 years of practical experience in accounting with a focus on general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash, month-end close processes
