Your Role

As Financial Controller, you will have overall responsibility for the finance and accounting functions of the Bülow Palais and Bülow Residenz. You will ensure that financial statements, reports, and analyses are prepared reliably, completely, and on time, and provide management with the financial transparency necessary for informed decision-making.

In this role, you’ll combine operational financial expertise with a strong understanding of business and serve as a sounding board for senior management and department heads. You won’t just manage the numbers—you’ll translate them into clear insights and effective actions.

The position

Do you combine in-depth knowledge of finance and accounting with strong analytical skills, and would you like to play an active role in shaping the financial growth of two exceptional hotels?

We are seeking a Financial Controller / Head of Finance & Accounting (m/f/d) for the Bülow Palais and the Bülow Residenz in Dresden to start as soon as possible.

In this key position, you will be responsible for the finance and accounting functions of both hotels. In addition to ensuring proper bookkeeping and timely financial statements, you will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, management reporting, and business analyses.

As the primary point of contact for all financial matters in Dresden, you will work closely with the General Manager and the Director of Finance of the Dylan Hotel Group. You will ensure transparency regarding results, risks, and opportunities, and support management with well-founded analyses and concrete recommendations for action.

At the same time, you will assume responsibility for the technical and operational management of the finance department and continuously improve processes, systems, and internal controls.

Your Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the finance and accounting of the Bülow Palais and the Bülow Residenz
  • Independently preparing monthly financial statements, as well as coordinating and preparing the annual financial statement process
  • Responsibility for general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable, as well as balance sheet and account reconciliations
  • Ensuring proper bookkeeping and compliance with commercial and tax law requirements
  • Monitoring of daily sales, cash register, and payment controls
  • Management of payment transactions, as well as ongoing monitoring and planning of liquidity
  • Responsibility for preparing payroll records and collaborating with the external payroll service provider
  • Independently prepare and continuously update the budget, forecast, and cash flow plan for both hotels in consultation with the General Manager and the Director of Finance
  • Analysis of monthly financial results and explanation of significant variances from the budget, forecast, and prior year
  • Preparation of informative management reports, analyses, and decision-making documents for the General Manager and the Director of Finance
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and commenting on relevant hotel key performance indicators (KPIs) according to USALI, particularly in the areas of rooms, F&B, personnel, and operating costs
  • Active collaboration with department heads on budget oversight, cost management, productivity, and financial management of their respective departments
  • Conducting feasibility studies and investment analyses for planned projects and acquisitions
  • Collaboration with auditors, tax advisors, government agencies, and other external partners
  • Professional and operational leadership, as well as the professional development of employees in the finance department
  • Further development of the internal control system and optimization of financial processes, systems, and reporting structures

What you bring with you

  • Completed business training with a focus on finance and accounting—for example, in the field of taxation—or a comparable qualification
  • Further training in financial or accounting, or a degree in business administration with a focus on finance, is an asset
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in finance and accounting
  • In-depth knowledge of financial accounting as well as monthly and annual financial statements
  • Experience in controlling, management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • A good understanding of German commercial and tax laws
  • Management experience or experience in a coordinating finance role
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, as well as experience with ERP and financial accounting systems
  • Experience in the hotel industry, the hospitality sector, or a similar service organization is desirable
  • Knowledge of USALI standards is an asset
  • Native-level proficiency in spoken and written German, as well as good communication skills in English
  • Analytical thinking skills, an understanding of business, and a structured, responsible approach to work
  • A passion for analyzing and refining processes and actively driving change
