ABOUT THE ROLE
As Senior Composite Manufacturing Engineer, you own the technical relationship with external suppliers manufacturing composite aerostructures, ensuring their parts meet our requirements for quality, manufacturability, cost, and delivery.
You act as the central interface between Design Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and supplier manufacturing teams, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept industrialization and supplier selection through qualification, production ramp-up, and delivery of conforming hardware. The role is focused on supplier-manufactured aerostructures, not in-house composite production or final assembly.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead supplier selection, manufacturing readiness reviews, and industrialization for composite aerostructures
- Review and approve manufacturing processes including tooling, layup, curing, bonding, trimming, drilling, finishing, and NDT
- Support First Article Inspection, process qualification, and production readiness activities
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to optimize parts for manufacturability, cost, quality, and scalability
- Serve as the primary manufacturing engineering focal point for supplier technical queries and coordinate engineering changes
- Review and disposition manufacturing-related non-conformances, and lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions with suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance, schedule adherence, and delivery risk during production ramp-up
- Drive continuous improvement in cost, cycle time, quality, and manufacturing automation
WHAT YOU BRING
- Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Deep, hands-on experience in aerospace composite manufacturing engineering
- Experience with aerostructures, composite tooling, bonding, curing, assembly, and NDT
- A proven track record working with aerospace suppliers in production environments
- Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, AS9102, and NCR/MRB processes
- Experience supporting new product introduction and production ramp-up activities
- Willingness to travel regularly to supplier locations
Moreover, it would be helpful if you also
- have hands-on exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies such as automated layup, AFP, filament winding, or RTM
- bring experience in make-versus-buy assessments and manufacturing strategy decisions
WHAT WE OFFER
- Full-scale aerospace engineering, not concept slides
- A 60+ engineer team at Ottobrunn
- Real ownership and flat hierarchies: a modern startup culture where your input shapes decisions, not just execution
- Flexible working hours, remote work, and competitive compensation
- Health & wellbeing: EGYM Wellpass membership and subsidized lunch in our canteen
- Office extras: espresso coffee, fresh fruit, and soft drinks, plus regular team and company events, and plenty more once you're on board
