Staff Hardware Engineer
Your Role
The Staff Hardware Engineer will independently lead hardware development for power semiconductor system applications — including residential and commercial PV systems, energy storage systems (ESS, including balcony ESS and utility-scale PCS), PV optimizers, and battery chargers. This role requires hands-on capability in power electronics schematic and PCB design, solid understanding of common power converter topologies, and the ability to drive hardware projects from concept through prototype, validation, and production release. The ideal candidate will work closely with firmware, testing, and product teams to deliver robust, standards-compliant hardware solutions for the renewable energy market.
Key responsibilities in your new role

- Independently design and develop power electronics schematics using industry-standard tools (Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent) for power semiconductor-based systems, including PV inverters, ESS power conversion systems, PV optimizers, and battery chargers.
- Independently perform PCB layout design with proper consideration for high-voltage creepage and clearance, thermal management, and signal integrity.
- Design and validate power converter circuits based on common topologies (e.g., LLC, CLLC, DAB, NPC, HERIC, B6, Totem-pole PFC), selecting appropriate power semiconductors (SiC MOSFETs, IGBTs, diodes), gate drivers, and passive components to meet application requirements.
- Select and evaluate components — power semiconductors (SiC/IGBT), gate drivers, current/voltage sensors, DC-link capacitors, magnetic components — based on datasheet analysis, loss calculation, and application-specific trade-off studies.
- Build, test, and debug hardware prototypes: perform PCB assembly and rework, set up test configurations, conduct functional testing, power-stage characterization, and design verification.
- Conduct design verification activities including thermal testing, efficiency measurements, and reliability validation under worst-case operating conditions.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers on control loop tuning, system bring-up, and hardware-software co-debugging; work with the testing team on compliance certification (safety, grid code).
- Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, BOM, design rationale notes, test reports, and design guidelines for reuse across projects.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Automation, or a related field, with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in power electronics hardware design. Outstanding fresh graduates with strong hardware project experience are also welcome to apply.

Proven ability to independently design power electronics schematics and PCBs using industry-standard EDA tools (Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent), with a portfolio of completed hardware designs.

Familiar with at least one or two common power converter topologies — such as LLC, CLLC, DAB, NPC, HERIC, B6, or Totem-pole PFC — including their operating principles, design considerations, and practical implementation trade-offs.

Solid understanding of power semiconductor devices (SiC MOSFETs, IGBTs, Si diodes), gate driving techniques, loss analysis, and thermal management for high-power-density designs.

Hands-on laboratory experience with test equipment including oscilloscopes, differential probes, current probes, power analyzers, electronic loads, and programmable power supplies.

Familiarity with relevant safety and design standards (e.g., IEC 62109 for PV, GB/T 34120 for ESS grid connection) is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, self-driven attitude, and ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.

Good communication skills in both English and Chinese; ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and cross-regional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)

Experience with wide-bandgap (SiC/GaN) power converter design and high-switching-frequency PCB layout techniques.

Knowledge of embedded MCU peripheral integration (PWM, ADC, communication interfaces) for digital power control systems.

Prior experience in the renewable energy industry (PV inverter, energy storage PCS, or EV charger product development).
