Head Physician (70-100%) The Sleep Medicine Service of the Institute of Clinical Neurosciences of Italian Switzerland (INSI), a centre accredited by the Swiss Sleep Society and internationally recognised for clinical, research and training activities, is seeking a Head Physician for a fixed-term contract of 2 years, with the possibility of professional development within the Service.
Activities The position involves an overall activity of 70-100%, divided as follows: 70% clinical activity, 30% research activity.
The candidate will be involved in the evaluation and management of patients affected by all major sleep disorders, interpretation of diagnostic tests and participation in the clinical research projects of the service.
Essential requirements
Specialist title in Neurology, Psychiatry or Pneumology (for doctors with foreign titles, recognition by the Federal Commission for Medical Professions MEBEKO and registration with MedReg before starting work is mandatory);
National or European certification in Sleep Medicine (Swiss Sleep Society, ESRS or equivalent);
At least 2 years of documented experience in Sleep Medicine;
Excellent knowledge of Italian and English (written and spoken), knowledge of another national language (French or German) is appreciated;
Autonomy in reporting: Video-polysomnography (PSG), Respiratory polygraphy (PG), Actigraphy, Objective vigilance tests (MSLT, MWT and related tests);
Clinical management skills of major sleep disorders: sleep respiratory disorders, insomnia, central hypersomnolence disorders, sleep movement disorders, parasomnias, circadian disorders;
Experience in teaching and supervising doctors in training;
Experience in writing scientific articles and presenting studies at conferences;
Knowledge of the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT‐I);
Basic knowledge of clinical research methodology and conducting clinical trials.
