SUMMARY
Reporting to the Division Vice President of Operations (concrete), the project manager is responsible for all facets of project management including budgeting, scheduling, tracking, procurement, document control, quality, and managing multiple concrete/general construction projects. Duties include coordinating and integrating multiple projects, and collaborating with people, suppliers, and stakeholders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all construction activities coordinating work and schedules with division leaders and the project team.
- Evaluate and determine appropriate construction methods and strategies employing the most cost-effective plan and schedule.
- Review drawings and specifications, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with plans and schedules.
- Assist with the preparation of competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings and bid documents.
- Assist with, develop, and write sub-contracts and purchase orders as required.
- Establish, track, and manage project schedule ensuring critical path requirements are achieved.
- Manage submittal process, ensuring that all submittal information is reviewed and routed for necessary approval.
- Ensure project financial success by establishing and managing project budgets; prepare and report on job cost, actively working to ensure project profitability.
- Work closely with operations management and field operations manager regarding resources required to meet project schedule.
- Assist with safety compliance.
- Ensure all project and payroll financial documentation is submitted timely throughout the work week.
- Conduct weekly site visits to project jobsites for coordination with project superintendent.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and management of site superintendent for assigned projects.
- Direct communication with project owners, construction managers, and project teams.
- Attend onsite coordination meetings and project-specific meetings.
SKILLS
- The ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, contracts, manuals, technical correspondence, and written instructions.
- Knowledge of construction computer programs and software.
- Experience in contracts and construction procurement process.
- Firm grasp of job estimate components, drawings, and specifications to properly relate back to the estimate.
- Understanding of full lifecycle of contracts from initial award through contract closeout.
- Knowledge of workforce planning and manpower resource allocation.
- Solid communication skills to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries.
- Organization skills to coordinate and integrate projects, people, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- The ability to develop and maintain positive internal and external collaborative relationships with local community/cultural organizations.
- The ability to be extremely observant with strict attention to detail.
- The ability to determine alternative work methods as needed.
- Superior communication skills and proven record of delivering exceptional customer service and ability to negotiate.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in construction management.
- Minimum 5 years project management experience working in commercial construction concrete projects.
- Capable of working with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work independently within remote work environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of construction management programs (Procore is a plus).
- Proficient in accounting software (ComputerEase is a plus).
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to be underwritten by Jostin insurance.
- Travel is required.
- OSHA 10/30 is a plus.
- COVID vaccination may be required at some work sites.
