Electrical Construction Manager

We are partnering with a leading contractor specialising in large‑scale data centre developments across Europe. As their project portfolio continues to expand, we are supporting them in the appointment of an experienced Electrical Construction Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high‑performing team delivering complex, mission‑critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee site safety in coordination with the Mercury Safety Advisor, including the setup, management, and close‑out of the project safety file.
  • Work closely with Site QA and the Electrical Package Manager to ensure “Right First Time” installation standards are achieved.
  • Review and manage the project schedule, aligning activities with other trades, package leads, consulting engineers, and client expectations.
  • Direct and supervise all daily on‑site operations to ensure efficient progress.
  • Manage subcontractor activities, tracking progress, manpower levels, and performance; chair weekly minuted meetings with all subcontractors.
  • Maintain and update the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system, issuing weekly punch lists as required.
  • Submit direct labour and subcontractor hours to the time administrator for central tracking.
  • Participate in site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination sessions, and handover meetings.
  • Support the Electrical Package Manager in closing out project deliverables, including O&M manuals, punch lists, safety documentation, and QA files.
  • Prepare and implement a weekly look‑ahead plan, ensuring alignment and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Issue internal weekly progress reports highlighting WBS‑based progress, risks, delays, and any project concerns.
  • Schedule and coordinate material deliveries in line with programme requirements; maintain a weekly photographic record of site progress.
  • Allocate work based on construction schedules and monitor productivity to meet targets.
  • Contribute to improving construction methodologies, processes, and design solutions.
  • Perform administrative duties as required to support project delivery.
  • Ensure materials and inventory are ordered and available to meet planned work activities.
  • Maintain accurate progress records of all works.
  • Monitor attendance and performance of project personnel for ongoing evaluation.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, estimating, supervising, record keeping, and reporting activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support throughout installation activities.
  • Ensure all works meet safety, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Recommend process improvements to optimise workforce efficiency and equipment utilisation.
  • Inspect works to ensure compliance with procedures, standards, and electrical requirements.
  • Liaise with engineering teams to ensure adherence to design and project specifications.
  • Attend construction meetings as required and prepare progress reports for senior management.

Essential Criteria

  • A trade background with 5–10 years’ experience supervising large installation teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
  • Experience in design and build environments.
  • Solid technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent IT skills and proficiency with relevant software tools.
