All selected candidates will undergo reference checks.Context & missionContext:The Research Unit on Humanitarian Stakes and Practices (UREPH) of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Switzerland aims to improve the way MSF projects are implemented in the field and to engage in critical thinking on humanitarian and medical action, notably by producing and organising conferences and publications. UREPH carries out research that enables a better understanding of challenges and fosters an analytical and reflective approach to humanitarian practices and issues.Mission:The Publishing & Editing Officer supports the UREPH by managing publications (editing, proofreading, and promotion) and ensuring the visibility of the unit's work both internally (within the Swiss section and across the MSF movement) and externally. The officer is also responsible for the unit's administrative management. Depending on the successful profile, they may be asked to contribute to the unit's research and to take part in cross-cutting projects as and when needed.Tasks & ResponsibilitiesThe role covers three areas:Editing and production of articles and papers produced by the UREPH, as well as their dissemination and promotionBibliography: research and management of the unit's databaseEditing, production, and promotion of research and publications (technical follow-up)- Carries out substantive proofreading of texts (articles, reports, books, etc.) in English and French- Carries out editorial work (main text, bibliography, compliance with editorial guidelines of journals or publishing houses)- Liaises with partners (publishers, legal advisers) and manages contracts- Organises the dissemination and promotion of UREPH publications within other departments, MSF sections and externally- Monitors the visibility of UREPH publications and manages stock needs, ensures quality control- Produces translations from French and from English- Carries out research as required by the team- Manages bibliographies (Zotero or EndNote)- Manages the UREPH library and orders books as required- Contributes to the drafting of the UREPH's annual activity reports and project plansWebsite and social media- Manages the content of the UREPH website (photos, text, videos) via the WordPress CMS, in coordination with the head of unit and other UREPH members- Oversees and coordinates the management of the website in coordination with the external provider- Coordinates the publication of certain articles on the website with the digital team- Writes posts for the UREPH's social media channelsEvents and promotion- Handles the organisation and logistical arrangements for UREPH conferences and seminars as well as other public meetings organised by the unit (venue, audiovisual equipment, videoconferencing, receptions, etc.)- Plans and oversees internal and external promotion (depending on the topic) of UREPH conferences, workshops and public meetings - in coordination with the content production team, including recording and online posting of filmed conferencesHuman resources- Manages employment contracts and work placement agreements: compiling and follow-up of files, liaising with the HR department, etc.- Manages work placement and, where necessary, supervises students- Monitors leave, travel and secondments of UREPH team members- Manages UREPH annual budget and revised budgets in coordination with the head of unit- Monitors changes in the UREPH's expenditure and budget in coordination with accounting management- Organises the administrative and logistical aspects of UREPH meetings (team meetings, steering committee meetings, meetings with other departments, etc.) and drafts the minutesYour profileEducation:- University degree in humanities, editing, publishing or any other relevant field, Master level or above.Experience:- 3 years experience in editing and research- Experience as an administrative assistant- Project management- Knowledge of humanitarian issues and practices- Experience with MSF or another humanitarian organisation would be an assetTechnical skills:- Excellent editing skills- Excellent writing skills- Strong organisational skills- Proficiency in computer and internet search tools- Good knowledge of management tools- Good knowledge of website management- Knowledge of the publishing sector- English speaker (compulsory)- Excellent written and spoken French; knowledge of other languages would be an asset (Italian, Spanish, German, Arabic)Personal qualities:- Good synthesis and analytical skills- Ability to synthesise information- High responsiveness and flexibility- Ability to show initiative- Work autonomously, team playerTerms of employment- Part-time position 80% (32h/week)- Permanent position (CDI)- Working place: Geneva, Switzerland- Ideal start mid-September- Gross annual salary (for 80%): from CHF 65,000.- to CHF 80,000.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)- Paid leave: 25 days per year, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.- Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff- Administrative support available for eligible candidatesHow to apply:Candidates are invited to submit their application exclusively through our recruitment platform following these guidelines:- CV (maximum 2 pages)- Cover letter (maximum 1 page)- Documents must be submitted in either English or French- The deadline is August 13th- We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier if we receive a sufficient number of quality applications.- Only candidates who will be shortlisted will be contacted.- Please note we do not wish to use the services of recruitment or placement agencies. jidbe77229aen jit0729aen jpiy26aen
