Automation Test Lead in Düsseldorf

We're recruiting for a technology-driven organisation based in Düsseldorf that is investing in modernising its software applications, automation frameworks and digital infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer who enjoys hands-on automation, solving complex problems and improving software quality, with the flexibility of remote working.

• Design, develop and maintain automated testing solutions for complex enterprise applications.
• Take technical ownership of test automation frameworks, standards and best practices.
• Develop and execute automated functional, integration, regression and end-to-end tests.
• Work closely with software developers, architects, DevOps engineers and business analysts.
• Integrate automated testing processes into CI/CD pipelines.
• Analyse software defects, identify root causes and support troubleshooting activities.
• Develop and maintain automated API and backend testing solutions.
• Improve test coverage, execution efficiency and the reliability of automated test suites.
• Support the modernisation of existing testing tools and processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decisions surrounding test architecture.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software testing and test automation.
• Strong programming or scripting experience, ideally with Java, Python or a comparable language.
• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress or similar automation frameworks.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, integration testing and backend systems.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with Jira, Xray or comparable test management and defect tracking tools.
• Good understanding of SQL, databases and complex data-driven applications.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Knowledge of performance testing, test architecture or security testing would be advantageous.
• Experience with complex enterprise applications or data-intensive platforms would be beneficial.
• Good German and English communication skills.
