We are looking for an experienced and motivated Optical Metrology Systems Engineer to join our team in Munich, Germany.
In this role, you will be responsible for the development, integration, commissioning, and optimisation of advanced optical metrology systems. You will work at the intersection of optics, precision engineering, electronics, software, and measurement science, helping to deliver high-performance systems for demanding industrial and technological applications.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and optimise optical metrology systems.
- Develop and implement measurement concepts for high-precision applications.
- Characterise and calibrate optical measurement systems and components.
- Analyse measurement data and identify sources of error, uncertainty, and system drift.
- Support system integration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Work closely with optical, mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineering teams.
- Develop test procedures, measurement methodologies, and technical documentation.
- Investigate system performance and implement improvements to accuracy, stability, and repeatability.
- Support customer and project requirements from concept through to final system delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of measurement processes and system architecture.
- Assist with technical problem-solving and root-cause analysis of complex system issues.
Your Profile
- Degree in Optical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Professional experience in optical metrology, precision measurement, photonics, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of optical systems, measurement principles, and experimental techniques.
- Experience with optical alignment, calibration, characterisation, and troubleshooting.
- Good knowledge of measurement uncertainty, error analysis, and data interpretation.
- Experience working with laboratory measurement equipment and precision instrumentation.
- Programming experience, ideally with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
- A structured, analytical approach to solving complex technical problems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Good communication skills in English; German language skills are advantageous.
