About the role

OneSubsea’s Controls group is responsible for the design and development of next-generation subsea control systems, subsea computing, electrical actuators, condition and performance monitoring and electrification of subsea products. It is also responsible for the long-term support and sustainment of the current product portfolio through Tendering, project delivery and delivered life cycle.

Within the Controls group, the SCM Domain team is responsible for the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical aspects of the subsea controls product portfolio.

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing innovative and cost effective solutions for the development or sustainment of new / improved techniques, procedures or products. The Senior Electrical Engineer also plans, conducts and evaluates approaches to meeting the project objectives in a timely fashion.

Involves:

• Hybrid office/home working, working with colleagues and remote teams
• Occasional National and International travel
• Internal and external client facing

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, maintain products and assist in their commercialization
• Conduct or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other artifacts. Contribute to design standards and support design re-use
• Create and maintain product documentation. Provide support to field and customers through InTouch. Provide user training as required
• Review work, documentation, test results and provide guidance to engineers. With seniority, mentor junior engineers
• Design and implement tests, document results and develop customer presentations. Provide timely corrective actions on defects.
• Produce analyses and mathematical models and draw design conclusions based on those.
• Continually evaluate engineering approaches and risks.
• Author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations. Share expertise via Eureka and special interest groups. Expand informal network throughout the organization.
• Keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets. Adopt new practices readily to develop innovative and low-cost products.
• Maintain familiarity with company technology, organization and business.

Qualifications

• BEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar.
• Relevant Electrical Engineering experience, preferably within Subsea, aerospace, medical or other similar high availability / reliability applications.
• Experience in the ability to carry out all elements of electrical system design involving material selection, calculations and component specification.
• Ability to deliver into project environment within agreed timescales and budgets.
• Enthusiastic and creative with focus on delivering results.
• Methodical and patient approach to solving problems.
• Good people and communication skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
