The position is based in the Department of Economics within the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences, which is consistently ranked among the best economics departments in research and teaching. The candidate will be part of the ERC-funded research group of Professor Erik Hornung. Collaboration with other members of the DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence ‘ECONtribute: Markets & Public Policy’ (jointly with the University of Bonn) is welcome.

YOUR TASKS

The successful candidate is expected to:

  1. Contribute to the research of the Department, in particular within the ERC-funded project „Entrenched: Elite Capture and Social Mobility“.
  2. Teach one course and one seminar per year in the fields of economic history and development economics. Teaching requirements amount to 75 hours per year.

YOUR PROFILE

  1. Talented applied economist at an early career stage, working in the fields of economic history, long-run development, and related fields.
  2. PhD in economics or other relevant discipline (or close to completion).
  3. Strong background in (micro-)econometric analysis, causal inference, and quantitative research methods.
  4. Publishing record or evidence of potential to publish in international peer-reviewed economics journals.
