Associate Professor of Integrative Computer-Assisted Immunology (W2) in Erlangen

The Faculty of Medicine at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for an Associate Professor of Integrative Computer-Assisted Immunology (salary group W2) at the Department of Medicine 5 – Hematology and Oncology.

This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date. We seek to appoint an internationally recognized leader in mathematical modeling and analysis of immunological processes who has their own independent research profile. The aim of the professorship is the development of mathematical and computer-based methods for integrating multimodal data in order to gain a mechanistic understanding of immune and disease processes and develop immunotherapy approaches. A particular focus here will be on deciphering immune processes in tissue and on immune cell engineering. The mathematical models and innovative algorithms developed in this context promise considerable added value for a range of collaborating disciplines.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record in research and teaching. They are required to have a university degree and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and additional postdoctoral qualifications (either a habilitation or equivalent academic qualifications). These qualifications may also have been achieved in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as assistant professor). Candidates are expected to take an active role in teaching. The successful candidate is expected to carry out administrative duties and take a proactive approach to raising third-party funding.

FAU offers degree programs in Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine (BSc / MSc), Medical Process Management, Midwifery Science and Logopedics as well as Medical Engineering and Integrated Immunology in conjunction with other faculties. Candidates are expected to have exceptional interdisciplinary collaboration skills for working with researchers at the Faculty of Medicine and a willingness to actively collaborate in research focus areas and research consortia (Collaborative Research Centers, Research Training Groups, Research Units).
