Position Summary
The Senior Search Strategist (SEO) is a mid-senior role responsible for driving organic search performance across client websites, campaigns, and digital programs. This position combines deep expertise in SEO fundamentals like onsite optimisation, offsite authority building, and technical SEO with cutting‑edge knowledge of AI-driven search optimisation and leveraging LLMs to improve visibility, ranking, and content quality.
The Senior Search Strategist works hands‑on in WordPress and Webflow environments, collaborating closely with developers, writers, and designers to create SEO‑friendly websites and content. They balance the art and science of SEO, ensuring content is meaningful and well‑crafted while also technically optimised for modern search engines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead SEO strategy and execution across onsite, offsite, and technical dimensions.
- Optimise sites in WordPress and Webflow , implementing best practices for speed, structure, indexing, and metadata.
- Conduct keyword research, SERP analysis, and competitor benchmarking to inform strategy.
- Guide content strategy, balancing quality storytelling with search performance.
- Build and execute backlink strategies and offsite optimisation campaigns.
- Leverage AI and LLM‑driven tools to develop content strategies, optimise copy, and monitor rankings.
- Collaborate with developers to implement structured data, schema, and accessibility standards.
- Partner with writers and strategists to ensure content is optimised for both humans and algorithms.
- Build reporting dashboards and provide clients with clear insights on rankings, traffic, and ROI.
- Stay current on search engine algorithm updates, AI‑driven search advancements, and evolving SEO tools.
- Mentor junior strategists and provide training across the agency on SEO best practices.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of SEO experience, with proven success in driving measurable ranking and traffic improvements.
- Strong technical knowledge of onsite and offsite SEO , including schema, sitemaps, link building, and page performance optimisation.
- Expertise in WordPress and Webflow, with hands‑on experience implementing SEO strategies in both CMS platforms.
- Strong portfolio of SEO case studies demonstrating growth in visibility, rankings, and traffic.
- Deep familiarity with AI‑driven SEO tools and proven experience leveraging LLMs for optimisation.
- Proficiency in tools such as Google Analytics (GA4), Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, and Screaming Frog.
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with developers, writers, and account teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present findings to clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
This is a full‑time, exempt position requiring approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility for campaign deadlines and client needs. Work is hybrid, combining remote and in‑office collaboration. Extended periods of computer use, reporting, and optimisation are expected. Occasional travel may be required for client presentations or workshops.
