We are looking for a BESS Project Technical Manager to support the technical execution of European energy storage projects, ensuring effective communication between customers, internal technical teams, and external suppliers, and driving technical issues through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Technical Handover & Execution Readiness

  • Take over technical agreements, system configurations, scope of supply, key commitments, and outstanding issues from the pre-sales team, identifying technical conditions requiring further clarification during project execution.
  • Participate in pre-contract technical reviews as required, identifying implementation risks that may affect project delivery, installation, commissioning, and operation and maintenance (O&M).

2. Customer Technical Communication & Requirements Clarification

  • Act as the technical interface during project execution, working with customers, EPC contractors, and design consultants under the overall coordination of the Project Manager (PM).
  • Independently organize and lead technical clarification meetings in English, translating customer requirements into clear, actionable technical inputs for internal engineering teams.
  • Lead customer-facing explanations and clarifications regarding technical solutions, system limitations, and issue resolution outcomes.

3. System Integration & Technical Interface Coordination

  • Coordinate technical interfaces involving battery systems, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and associated electrical distribution and monitoring systems.
  • Drive the clarification and confirmation of electrical connections, auxiliary power supply, communication topology, control logic, and interface requirements.
  • Identify technical gaps and integration issues between equipment and between equipment and the overall power plant, coordinating relevant parties to agree on implementable solutions and obtain customer confirmation.

4. Internal & Supplier Technical Coordination

  • Work closely with internal technical support, R&D, product, and project delivery teams, as well as external PCS, EMS, and other equipment suppliers.
  • Break down customer requirements and technical issues into specific actions, clarify responsibilities and deadlines, and organize technical discussions where necessary.
  • Track progress, coordinate feedback, and drive technical issues toward practical solutions and timely closure.

5. Technical Risk & Change Management

  • Identify configuration adjustments, interface changes, and additional technical requirements arising during project execution.
  • Coordinate cross-functional assessments of their impact on system performance, reliability, scope of supply, delivery schedules, and O&M.
  • Support the PM in change assessment and confirmation, maintaining clear records of technical decisions, changes, and customer communications.

6. Testing & On-site Implementation Support

  • Provide technical support during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), on-site installation, commissioning, and project acceptance.
  • Clarify design, configuration, and interface requirements throughout testing and implementation.
  • Conduct initial assessments of technical issues reported on-site, coordinate with commissioning, O&M, and R&D teams, and follow up on corrective actions and verification until closure.

Requirements

1. Education

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Automation, Telecommunications, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant technical experience in battery energy storage, photovoltaic inverters, power systems, industrial automation, or related fields.
  • Practical experience in project implementation, system integration, engineering design, technical delivery, or commissioning.
  • Hands-on experience in the end-to-end execution of BESS or PV-plus-storage projects is a strong advantage.

3. Technical Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of BESS architecture, major components, and system operating principles.
  • Familiarity with the technical interfaces and control relationships among battery systems, Battery Management Systems (BMS), PCS, and EMS.
  • Practical engineering knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, or industrial communications, with the ability to identify key system integration issues.

4. Engineering Drawings & Requirements Analysis

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, wiring and connection drawings, communication topologies, and technical interface documents.
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements, identify scope-of-supply boundaries, missing information, and potential technical conflicts, and translate findings into actionable internal tasks and clarification items.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English, with the ability to independently lead technical meetings, draft technical emails, and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Strong communication skills when working with European customers, EPC contractors, design consultants, and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of German, French, Italian, or other European languages is an advantage.

6. Communication & Coordination

  • Ability to communicate technical requirements accurately and explain technical constraints and proposed solutions clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive in coordinating resources, facilitating decisions, and driving technical issues to closure.
  • Strong ownership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

7. Project Technical Management

  • Experience in technical risk identification, change tracking, and engineering documentation management.
  • Ability to coordinate technical matters across multiple projects, manage priorities, responsibilities, and deadlines, and elevate critical risks or resource requirements in a timely manner.

8. Tools & Working Flexibility

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with strong technical documentation and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to use standard engineering tools to review and annotate technical drawings.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and accountable, with the flexibility to work across time zones and undertake domestic and international business travel when required.

What We Offer
