About The Role

Join Kerry's Biotechnology Centre in Leipzig as a Preclinical Research Scientist, where you'll contribute to the discovery and development of innovative functional ingredients that support human and companion animal health. Working within a multidisciplinary research team, you'll apply microbiology and molecular biology expertise to investigate probiotic and postbiotic solutions, generate scientific insights, and help advance Kerry's next generation of science-backed health innovations.

Key responsibilities

  • Utilise, internalise and develop preclinical models to discover and characterise new functional ingredients to positively impact human health
  • Collaboratively develop and execute clear research project plans, analyse and interpret results using appropriate analysis tools and statistics
  • Collaborate on preparation of scientific publications, protocols, technical project reports and presentations for stakeholders
  • Provide scientific and technological support for laboratory projects as assigned/needed
  • Participate in a culture of curiosity, continuous learning and original idea generation to drive the development of innovative solutions to support human and companion animal health
  • Cross-functional collaboration with scientific teams in complementary business areas

Technical Expertise

  • Required technical proficiency
    • Anaerobic bacterial culture
    • Probiotic/postbiotic characterisation
    • Traditional microbiology techniques
    • Molecular Biology
  • Technical experience a plus
    • C. elegans preclinical models
    • Microscopy experience Traditional cell culture
    • Organoid and 3D cell culture systems
    • Flow cytometry

Qualifications And Skills

  • Educational qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree (or equivalent) in a biomedical sciences field, PhD desirable
  • Full professional proficiency in English and German
  • Systems skills MS Office, GraphPad Prism, experience with R, bioinformatics analysis a plus
  • Experience to prepare professional scientific reports
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Experienced in good experimental design and accurate record keeping
  • Independent, self-starter, with demonstrated ability to simultaneously
