Motivation
Good food brings people together – and strong partnerships bring it to more shelves. Do you know the food retail market and enjoy developing new business?
To grow our retail business across the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, we are looking for a Retail Manager / Key Account Manager (m/f/d) based at our headquarters in Gronau, Germany on a full-time basis (40 hours per week).
Your role
You take ownership of the commercial relationship, from the first conversation and listing negotiations through to product launches, performance reviews and further development. By understanding your customers’ needs and working closely with suppliers and colleagues, you turn commercial opportunities into business that works in practice.
As this is a relatively new role at Tok Food, you will have room to contribute your experience, introduce ideas and shape the way we develop our retail business. It is a role for someone who enjoys taking initiative, working independently and seeing opportunities through.
Your key responsibilities
- Identify and approach new retail customers, build relationships with buyers and decision makers and develop opportunities from first contact to agreement
- Grow existing accounts through clear plans for assortment, distribution, promotions, revenue and margin
- Stay close to your customers through regular contact and store visits, understanding their priorities and following up on commitments
- Negotiate listings, prices, commercial terms and promotional agreements with a clear focus on profitable, lasting business
- Work with suppliers and our CSO team (Coordination Sales & Operations), Purchasing, Supply Chain and Finance to align availability, pricing and execution
- Coordinate customer onboarding and product launches, including product data, EDI setup and testing, together with operational colleagues
- Help resolve order, delivery and invoice issues in cooperation with the relevant teams
- Use sales, margin and customer data to identify opportunities, improve performance and prepare realistic forecasts
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and keep track of retail trends, competitor activity and customer requirements across all three markets
Your profile
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in key account management or business development within food retail
- An established retail network that you can actively bring to the role, with contacts or demonstrable experience involving Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Delhaize, Superunie, Edeka, REWE or comparable retailers. You do not need direct relationships with every retailer listed
- A genuine interest in food and an affinity with the ethnic food market, its products, consumers and commercial opportunities
- A track record of winning new accounts, developing customer relationships and negotiating successful agreements
- The confidence and persistence to connect with buyers and move conversations forward
- A practical understanding of retail EDI processes, including electronic orders, confirmations, delivery notices and invoices
- A structured, independent approach, with the ability to prioritise opportunities and follow through on commitments
- Willingness to travel regularly across the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium
- A good command of written and spoken English, Dutch and German; Turkish or/and French are additional advantages
What we offer
- An international commercial role with responsibility across three markets
- Room to shape a growing business area and put your ideas into practice
- Competitive salary, including Holiday and Christmas bonus
- Company car – also for private use
- Employee discounts, company pension scheme and team events
