Official title: Product Manager - Cranial Navigation

Location: Munich, Germany | Employment information: Full-time; hybrid work model within Germany

This product-management position has responsibility for a core portion of the Cranial Navigation portfolio. It asks the postholder to make and defend priority decisions, then follow their consequences through technical development, commercial preparation and use in hospital settings. The employer expects a structured approach that does not reduce clinical feedback to an isolated request list. Instead, feedback from surgeons, Sales, service colleagues and market information is gathered, synthesised and converted into a roadmap that gives research and development a clear basis for action.

The role also requires a visible, technically credible presence with stakeholders. Regular field work is specified, including time with customers and in operating rooms, alongside customer visits, presentations and detailed demonstrations. Product ownership therefore includes communication: explaining priorities to development, enabling Sales and external commercial partners, and working with clinical and marketing colleagues on launches, studies and adoption. The strongest fit will be someone comfortable making decisions where technical detail and clinical practice both matter.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap for the Cranial Navigation portfolio and prioritise scope according to clinical need, technical feasibility and market impact.
  • Work closely with research and development to support roadmap delivery and turn priorities into buildable direction.
  • Collect and synthesise input from surgeons, Sales, service colleagues and market information, including regular customer and operating-room field time.
  • Define market requirements, including serviceability and producibility, and analyse competitors to strengthen positioning.
  • Manage aspects of the commercial offering, covering article structure, pricing and product information, while monitoring global sales performance for opportunities.
  • Lead product launches and equip Sales, distributors and partners through training and clear roadmap communication.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and regional teams on programmes and content intended to support visibility and adoption.
  • Initiate and support clinical studies with Clinical Affairs, and act as a technical expert during visits, presentations and in-depth demonstrations.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of product-management experience, or experience in a comparable role, within medical technology or healthcare.
  • A university degree in engineering, natural sciences, business or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise, define specifications and balance clinical, technical and business requirements while standing behind decisions.
  • Confidence working with surgeons and clinical staff, including in operating-room settings.
  • Fluent English.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
  • Preferred: experience with surgical navigation, imaging or other operating-room technology.
  • Preferred: a background in neurosurgery or cranial applications, or experience with launches or clinical studies in a regulated medical-device environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical affinity for complex hardware-software systems.
  • Structured and clear communication that makes complexity understandable and supports a compelling product vision.
  • Ability to bring research and development, Sales and Clinical teams along through clear priorities and communication.
  • Skill in interpreting clinical, technical and business inputs together when defining specifications.
  • Technical confidence for customer presentations and detailed product demonstrations.
  • An advantage: German language skills; the employer states that German and English are both used by the team.

Benefits and Employment Information

  • A mutually supportive international team.
  • Flexible working hours and a hybrid work model within Germany.
  • Bike leasing through a cooperation partner, plus parking and secure underground bicycle storage.
  • A subsidised company restaurant, in-house cafés and access to a fitness programme and company gym.
  • Regular after-work, team and company events.
  • Training and continuing-education opportunities.
