About the Role
Join a small, high-caliber founding team in Berlin building AI-native operations infrastructure for private markets. This company is developing an intelligent automation platform that powers fund accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and treasury automation — connecting to data sources, reconciling documents and transactions, and preparing deliverables like journal entries and reporting packages, all without requiring firms to rip and replace their existing systems.
As a Backend Engineer, you'll own core backend infrastructure with a deep focus on permissions, auditability, traceability, and observability across both hosted and self-hosted deployments. You'll be working at the intersection of enterprise-grade security, distributed systems, and AI-native workflows — with meaningful ownership from day one.
What You'll Do
Design and manage backend infrastructure for permissions, auditability, traceability, and observability
Oversee deployment architectures for hosted and self-hosted environments using infrastructure-as-code tooling
Enhance system reliability, performance, and security in production environments
Partner closely with product teams to deliver features while upholding quality standards
Drive AI-native development practices that enable rapid, high-quality releases
What We're Looking For
Required:
Experience building backend infrastructure with a strong emphasis on permissions, auditability, traceability, and observability across hosted and self-hosted deployments
Familiarity with distributed systems and modern observability toolchains (metrics, logs, tracing) to monitor backend services
Ability to thrive in a small founding team — strong ownership, initiative, and cross-functional coordination are a must
1–3 years of relevant backend engineering experience
Eligibility to work in Germany and willingness to work on-site in Berlin
Tech Stack:
TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Inngest, React, Tailwind
Nice to Have:
Background at companies building in AI/ML infrastructure, fintech, or B2B SaaS (e.g. Basis, Willow, Eigen, Decagon, Dynamo AI, or similar)
Experience with LLM orchestration or agentic workflow platforms
Familiarity with private markets, fund accounting, or financial operations tooling
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: €70,000 – €110,000 per year, depending on experience
Early-stage equity opportunity
High-impact role with direct influence on the product and company direction
Location
