About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Optical Engineer to join our dynamic team at Optics Balzers Jena GmbH. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and testing advanced optical components and systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure the delivery of innovative solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in optical design, materials science, and manufacturing processes, with a passion for pushing the boundaries of optical technology. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in optical design and simulation software such as Zemax, Code V, or LightTools.
• Strong understanding of optical materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working in a high-precision manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
• Fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and simulate optical components and systems to meet specified performance criteria.
• Collaborate with R&D and production teams to develop innovative optical solutions.
• Conduct experiments and tests to validate optical designs and ensure quality standards are met.
• Analyze and troubleshoot optical performance issues, providing effective solutions.
• Document design processes, test results, and technical specifications accurately.
• Support the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and product quality.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in optical technology and incorporate them into project work.
• Assist in the training and mentoring of junior team members as needed.
